The study has the following two findings. Data included online flashcard websites, classroom observations, participants’ online flashcards and learning records, and interview. Four types of data were collected in two freshmen English classes in a university in Taiwan from February to April 2013. This study compared and contrasted 64 Taiwanese college freshmen’s perceptions of and attitudes toward three online vocabulary flashcard websites, Quizlet, Study Stack, and Flashcard Exchange. It, therefore, can be concluded that Quizizz becomes an alternative way of assessing the students online, while at the same time promoting their learning engagement. Besides, this program could enhance students’ learning engagement in terms of cognitive, behavioral, and emotional engagement. They perceived it as a useful program that was easy to use, and they reported the intention to use it in the future in the post-pandemic era. The main findings of the study show that the students demonstrated positive attitudes towards the use of Quizizz during emergency remote teaching. The perceptions of sixty freshmen college students regarding the use of this tool are documented using questionnaires. However, as learners do not always perceive learning tool effectiveness in the same way as educators, this study tries to investigate the perspectives of learners regarding the use of game-based assessment tool, namely Quizizz. Various programs and applications have been developed to assess students online.
Therefore, the researcher suggests that teachers or lecturers who teach use the Memrise and Quizlet applications as alternative media to instil word material in students in the long term.Įmergency remote teaching makes teachers should review the appropriate way of assessing students appropriately. This study also used the Memrise and Quizlet applications to instil vocabulary. Vocabulary achievement improved after learning vocabulary using Memrise and Quizlet applications from the results presented above. Lecturers or teachers can use the Memrise and Quizlet Applications as a medium to motivate students and provide fun and independent learning. In addition, students also showed a positive attitude towards the application of Memrise and Quizlet for vocabulary learning. The results showed that vocabulary planting through the Memrise and Quizlet applications increased student achievement. Researchers obtained data from tests and questionnaires. This research applies Classroom Action Research using four procedures: Planning, Action, Observation, and Reflection. Therefore, this research tries to enhance the students' vocabulary achievement by applying Memrise and Quizlet Applications. The student's ability to understand and use academic and research vocabulary was lacking.
